About JukeboxART

JukeboxART is a mixed media series composed from original digital illustrations, modified photography and a collection of musical inspiration. I create each design based on a thought, feeling or emotional connection to a song and then title each piece after a lyric found in the song it was inspired by.

Bridging the Gap : An Artist Statement

Being an artist has always been a multimedia love affair. I have always created from the heart with desire to share and express my vision. At any given time I am a painter, photographer, and a graphic designer with an intense love for music. Theory indicates there is a continual cross-pollination between music and visual art. However, for me, music and art are one and the same.

When I hear lyrics I see visions painted before me. I feel colors as if they are pigmented by emotion. I experience melodies set to rhythmic tones of nature and I imagine the result of poetry poured onto paper. Such experiences from musical inspirations influence my creations so strongly that the titles of my artwork are derived from the lyrics of a song that I had been listening to at the time.

Over the years, I’ve tried many combinations of artistic mediums hoping to accurately capture the essence of what happens when music fills the air. I found that the use of bold color, strong crisp lines and striking patterns created by digital graphics best fit my desire to express the harmony and movement in which I strongly experience. With the addition of my camera, an artistic eye and a lavish imagination I finally found my groove and JukeboxART was born.

Design

Very quickly the JukeboxART series took on a life of its own by illustrating the essence of musical inspiration through organic elements such as trees, animals, and celestial lightings. I see natural elements as being closely rooted to raw emotion, uninhibited expression and personify the freedom so closely matched by an artistic voice.

My hope is that anyone who views my work connects in a very human sense and is enlivened by their own association to the song or lyric they are witnessing. For me, to be successful as an artist the viewer needs to stand in front of my work, feel the music and allow my imagination to bridge the gap between sight and sound, vision and voice, art and music.

Materials

Most designs* are printed on Kodak Professional Supra Endura VC Digital Paper. The Kodak paper has a standard archival value is 100 years in home display and 200 years in dark storage. I mat my work in a white acid-free mat with ph buffered 100% recycled backing board and I package each piece in an Earthfirst biodegradable cello sleeve. Each print contains a small card with the print title, inspiration and artist signature.

*Giclee or screen printing available at special order. Each special print order is limited edition, signed and numbered by yours truly to ensure authenticity.
